July 19, 2026 Ready for 'Ready or Not'
I have been trying out some ‘Ready or Not’ on PC and the game is intense! It’s definitely not a lone-wolf style of game. I’m probably am going to start streaming some of the gameplay soonish.
July 6, 2026 Added a new self-hosted "Minecraft with Guns" server!
Check out details on joining the server here. If you’re just looking for the mods, they can all be found here.
June 19, 2026 New Battlefield 6 resource page!

I just created a page to compile everything Battlefield 6 related. This is mainly just a reference page to make it easier to find all the BF6 stuff I used without have to search for them.

See the full post here.

June 18, 2026 Waiting on KDE Plasma 6.7 on EndeavourOS
It has a feature I have been long waiting for. Review coming soon…
June 5, 2026 Improved the site structure, organization, and blog

I basically rebuilt this site from scratch because the old version didn’t quite do what I wanted it too. Needless to say, I think the new site is way better than the old one. The new site was originally created using hugo and nextjs, but I ended up dropping most of the nextjs bits except for some specific site customizations.

Other things:

  • Battlefield 6 on PC - I bought the game again on PC and it’s WAAAY different than on PS5. I can see why so many people complain about PC players…
  • Battlefield 6 on PS5 - Even though BF6 is different than BF3 and BF4, I’m still having A LOT of fun with this game. It’s a bit more fast pace and frantic than the other too, but I’d recommend trying the game out if you can.
  • PEARC 2025 - Columbus, Ohio - We gave another successful tutorial at PEARC this year (minus the little blunder at the start)! This time around, we had more attendees than we did at ISC so it’s pretty obvious that people are interested in OpenCHAMI. If you haven’t checked out the project yet, head on over to our GitHub page: https://github.com/OpenCHAMI
June 4, 2026 New revamped site launched
New revamped site launched using hugo and nextjs.
Elden Ring Nightreign
This has been a fun game some far, but I think I’m struggling more than I should be. Then again, I have only played in single player and haven’t tried the multiplayer yet even though I know I should.
ISC 2025 - Hamburg, Germany
Just got back from Germany and had a great time. I’m going to write up a blog post soon about International Super Computing and my experience in Germany!
No-lifing Monster Hunter Wilds
The latest interation of Monster Hunter was released in February and this game has been eating away at my life (as usual), but I have no regrets. I’ve been playing MH since the 3rd generation (Tri) and pretty always mained long sword and great sword and sometimes tried some of the other ones. This time around I decided to try playing gun lance, and I’m truly shocked and how much it’s improved! If you haven’t tried gun lance in Wilds, I’d highly recommend you give it a try!
Updates to towk2.me
It’s been awhile since I’ve worked on this website, but I’m working on giving in a bit of a face lift. There’s a lot of stuff that still needs to be done in the background, but it’s coming together slowly. First, I’m trying to improve the blog since trying to get Javascript plugins to work with NextJS is a bit of a pain. Next, I plan to ‘beautify’ the site in general with some eye candy. So if the site just mysteriously breaks or changes that means that I’m working on it.
SNIA Plugfest 2025
I’ll be attending the SNIA Plugfest in Westminster, CO on the 28th of April. I don’t have any talks or anything planned, but I’m hoping to learn a little bit more about Swordfish/Redfish, but we will see!

Minecraft Server Ultimate Resource

This guide covers some important details to join my Minecraft server so make sure to read the “Useful Guides, Wikis, and Tips” section when you join the server! If you can’t find the server, it may be temporarily down for some reason (power outage, crappy internet, something broke, etc.). I would also recommend bookmarking this page and checking back for updates! Note If the server goes down, message me on Discord about it. I sometimes take it down to add/remove mods, update the server, change configuration, do other things, blah blah blah ...

KDE Plasma 6.7 is a Breath of Fresh Air!

The upcoming Plasma 6.7 is probably one of my most anticipated updates since I started using KDE about a decade ago. I use a Macbook for work, and after some time, I have gotten used to the MacOS work flow and muscle memory is something hard to shake. I don’t remember what it’s called in MacOS, but the KDE equivalent is called Overview and it’s always felt a bit limited in its capabilities…well, that’s a thing of the past now! Plasma 6.7 has brought a much request feature to the desktop after a long, looooong time that makes Overview feel more like the MacOS experience! That feature is the per-monitor virtual desktops! ...

Embedding NextJS in Hugo

Embedding NextJS in Hugo This post explains how we integrated NextJS interactive widgets into a Hugo static site. Architecture The site uses Hugo as the primary static site generator with the PaperMod theme. NextJS applications are embedded via a custom Hugo shortcode. The Shortcode The custom nextjs-app shortcode (layouts/shortcodes/nextjs-app.html) renders an iframe pointing to the NextJS application: {{- $path := default "/interactive-widget" (.Get "path") -}} {{- $height := default "400" (.Get "height") -}} {{- if hugo.IsServer -}} <!-- Dev: iframe to localhost:3000 --> <iframe src="http://localhost:3000{{ $path }}" ...></iframe> {{- else -}} <!-- Production: serve pre-built static files --> <iframe src="/nextjs{{ $path }}/index.html" ...></iframe> {{- end -}} Development Workflow Start Hugo: hugo server (port 1313) Start NextJS: next dev (port 3000) Hugo pages with {{< nextjs-app >}} load the NextJS widget via iframe Production Build cd nextjs-app && next build # generates out/ cp -r out ../hugo-site/static/nextjs cd ../hugo-site && hugo # final site with embedded widget Try It Yourself Visit the Interactive Demo page to see the widget in action.

Makeshift: The New Configurator

What is configurator? For the OpenCHAMI project, I wrote a little tool called “configurator” to do some config file rendering magic. It ended up not being useful and I suspect a part of that is due to how complicated it is to set up and understand. Also, as handy, dynamic, and extensible the configurator’s plugin templating system might have seem, it’s use-case was not very clear. Was it a cloud-init replacement or was it meant to solve a completely different problem? ...

My Experience Using the Viture Pro XR and XReal One XR Glasses

I recently brought two pair of XR glasses on a whim thinking that this would revolutionize how I think of productivity and the VR/XR/AR world. I was certainly right to some degree, but I wouldn’t say it’s revolutionary. Both the Viture Pro XR and XReal One glasses delivers most of the main features I’d want from glasses like these, but lack a couple of things I’d like to see in future iterations. Some of my “wants” may be unfeasible, but I think they would make the experience so much more enjoyable. ...

Timeshift: How auto-snapshots Saves Me A LOT of Pain!

If you’re like me a use Arch Linux (btw), then you know that upgrading your system (sudo pacman -Syu) can sometimes be a real PITA. I certainly don’t like playing Russian roulette with upgrades that may render my system completely useless and require me to have to troubleshoot. No, poor devs like me that have work to do prefer to use quick and dirty methods to get back up and running and back to business in a matter of minutes. Enter btrfs and timeshift. ...

Artisan: Creating an Experimental SQL Builder State Machine in Go

The artisan package is an experimental, LINQ-inspired SQL string query builder that is meant to be simple and intuitive to create SQL queries. The library leans into IDE auto-suggestions and type-checking to eliminate human-error when building queries. Removing the need to debug SQL statements increases productivity by catching common SQL errors early in the development cycle (i.e. at compile-time and not run-time). Building the Executable Clone the repository, download the dependencies, and build the binary. ...

Welcome to towk2.me!

Welcome to towk2.me! This is my personal website that I am working on to get up and running with a few handy services. Everything is integrated together using Docker Compose, but I plan to convert this deployment over to using Kubernetes and move to some dedicated hardware at some point. I’m still making changes so don’t be too surprised if something changes suddenly or just looks completely off. Why Create this Site with Services? The whole point of creating this site is to understand how to build a modern site using modern web tech. I’ve built web sites before using plain HTML, Javascript, CSS, PHP, etc. along with a couple of simple JS libraries like JQuery back in the day. I remember how tedious it was to build sites back then even for something so simple and static, but some of that pain may have just been from inexperience. Things have changed a lot since then and I’m definitely a much better developer nowadays. So, I figured it would be nice to up my game and try out using new stuff. ...

avatar I built towk2.me as a way to share things I’m interested in. This website was built using AI, but absolutely no content is written using it. I also sometimes stream on Twitch, YouTube, or OwnCast (my own site at live.towk2.me). Feel free to message or follow me on social media.
